There’s a new record label in town Yarrow Ballet and we’re celebrating this the 8th of June in TITNS!
Yarrow ballet invited amazing new gem Norherenorthere to do an hour live set! Also music wizards Cardboard Lamb and Ghost K.O. will be there to share some beautiful tunes.
The first release (Dim Garden – Soleil Tartare) will be released on the 6th of June. Of course we’ll bring some records!
Ghost K.O. Kenneth Owens is a photographer and videographer based in Rotterdam. Born and raised in the South East of the U.S. his sound has been shaped by skate culture and punk scenes. Heavily merged with European wave genres and electronic influences his DJ sets are a mix of weird, stimulating and danceable sounds.
Norherenorthere produces from her attic with the same instrument set-up she uses to perform live. Hardware instruments engage the sense of touch, which in her view, improve creativity and self-expression. In addition to physical textures, sampled textures from film-extracts, and her own registers, bring another dimension to the work. Genres like jazz, 80’s electronica, darkwave, electro, industrial and ambient have inspired her to venture into music production.
Currently, she is exploring the ‘uncanny’ through performance-art in collaboration with Transylvanian installation artist Zalán Szakács and architect Hegyi Fanni.
Norherenorthere, has just finished recording her debut LP and will soon announce its release date.
Cara Mayer is Cardboard Lamb. She is interested in the intersection of technology, art, cinema, and music, with a particular focus on radio as a work of art and narrative tool.
She works at Pinkman Records, Operator Radio, and at Future Intel, where she is a writer and a show host. She also runs radio-project ‘Dear Navigator’ with the artist Sylvie van Wijk, in which they take locations in Rotterdam as starting points to explore their sonic and social contexts – weaving sound-scapes with discussions of politics of the city. As a DJ, she is interested in narrative radio – mixing ambient, experimental electronics, and various iterations of wave and folk with film clips, field recordings, and poetry along a chosen theme.
